I hope adding this link isn't a problem. If so, just let me know, and i will remove it from my site. My site can be found at: http://jkersten.topcities.com

We found the people to very friendly. Love the small cities and felt there was a lot to see. Enjoyed going threw the underground mine. There is still a lot we haven't seen. We will be back again. If we could we would have a summer home in Gilbert.
it is the nicest little town that you can imagine.
Will be coming up the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2002 for the ATVAM Convention to test run your new all terrain park for ATV's, motorcycles, trucks, and jeeps ......... sounds like this may be a real boost for your local economy. I wish you and all your city the best of prosperous times.
We have stayed at your beautiful campground before. We like the setting, and still being close to town.
Hello!

This town ROCKS!!! GO BUCS GO!!!
Yes, I must admit that Gilbert's a sweet-n-sleepy little town, a slower pace to the metropolitan hustle and bustle. Y'all should be quite happy to be a part of a tight-knit community...the further south you move, the less you have those small-town values. I grew up on the Range, and always enjoy coming back fro a visit. We make going through Gilbert, one of our traditions...just cruisin' thru. Thanks for the memories... josieknows@hotmail.com Mt.Iron Class of "83.
I discovered your website and couldn't resist leaving just a few of my fond memories of Gilbert:
I spend my early childhood in the Gilbert/Sparta. Our family is Finnish. My mother (Mary (Kykyri) Anderson), was born in Sparta in 1901. My grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins lived in one of the townships, which the name escapes me at this moment. I spent every summer on my grandparents farm until I was 15. I attend grammar school in Gilbert. Went to square dances at the community center in Biwabik where I think I first 'discovered' girls.
My uncle 'Happy' (Emil Kykyri) worked at the open pit ore mines till his death in the early 60's (not sure of that time). I still have cousins in the area, but most have scattered. My cousin, Bob Jalonen, retired recently as the school principal in Ely. Others are in the twin city area.
I had an aunt that worked at the Arrow Shirt factory in Gilbert, which is long gone now. (The factory, that is.) Actually, my aunt past away some time ago too.
Thanks for reading through my reminiscing. I am pleased to have found your website. Keep up the work, and I will indeed come back for another visit.
Regards, Jim Anderson Los Angeles
An old friend of mine is/ was a high school teacher at Gilbert High School. Mr. Ron Nemanic. He was my teacher in the 8th grade when he spent a short time in California. He was the best!!! Not sure if he is still teaching or has retired. Anyone able to update? Someday would love to see that part of the country. He always talked about how wonderful it is there. mdinnel@aol.com

Coming up to ride at your offroad park and bringing friends, looking forward to it.
Wow - this page is fantastic. Thanks to the people who created it. Now I can feel close to "old home", and nostalgia for the old days, whenever I turn on my computer.
Enjoyed your site. We lived in Summit View Apts when they were new (1975)and I worked on construction of the Minorca Taconite Plant in Virginia, Mn. My wife and I were newlyweds back then and spent our first anniversary in Gilbert. We remember enjoying the Bicentenial Parade from our balcony, many pleasant weekend evenings at Burnies Pub. Unfortunately, my jacket no longer fits. We phonetically called it Jil-bear. We recall the "Minnesota state birds" that lined up on our window screen in the summer. We have many fond memories of the place and the people. Bob and Nancy Hamilton

This is a very impressive site you have put together. Kudos to the designer.
Say hello to my old friends Mark St. Lawrence and his cousin, Freddie Shusterich (whom we called "Derf"). Also, congratulate Mike "Pickle" Skenzich on becoming mayor of this nice little city.
Thanks,
Jim Maki
I enjoyed the ATV trails. It was nice to be able to ride around without the police chasing me, like when I was growing up there in the early 80's. It sure was fun though.
